Are you an emotional eater? Do you eat when you are restless, lonely, or mad about something? In today’s Smart Tips Video, I’m going to show you how you can embrace your emotional eating, and why it’s important to let it be okay!
Like so many of us, you may have been taught that it is a bad thing to feel, or you may even have been punished for crying about something. But if we are honest with ourselves, we will accept the fact that we are emotional beings. It is natural for us to feel, rather than stuff it down. So understand that when you eat when you are lonely, you are looking to food for comfort, and there’s nothing wrong about the idea of wanting to be comforted. It makes sense that when you are hurting you want relief, right? You see, telling yourself the truth about it, and injecting some compassion by learning to accept that you eat to comfort yourself, will actually help you change it if that’s what you want to do.
