To improve profitability, we need to focus on developing strong relationships with customers & coworkers by connecting with them. When you find yourself drifting, in order to connect with the person who is talking it is important to 1) stay focused on the other person, 2) make good eye contact to connect with them. Otherwise you will communicate that you are not interested in them. 3) Be fully present in the conversation, 4) re-engage by asking questions, and 5) have a genuine interest in the other person. In order to get out of our own heads and shift our focus to the other person we need to make a conscious effort to really listen, show interest, and be authentic. Connect with others.
